Ok, its been ages since I did anything on this! This is just a quick render using some prettier lighting and more balanced shaders. Its a bit noisy! Ive also started the body - it’s well early, just trying out some proportions.

Wow, I love the style and the modeling you’ve got here. Very cool. I’m a mechanism nerd (used to be a Mechanical Engineering student) and the exposed machinery here is really awesome.

this is amazing. Like if Pixar made a terminator endoskeleton only with more style. Awesome work / modeling / design. I really want to see how this turns out.

Hey, thanks for the comments guys, appreciate it! Glad you like it so far!

I’ve got the body drawn out better, and modelled up the legs. I’ve added a tiny hip joint - the circles at the top of the legs so he has a kind of suspenision up there. The rigs real near finished. I’ll post of video of how it all works when it is!
The neck is the last thing to do - its not staying attached to the chest right now! As you can see in the pic!

Even if you are representing unrealistic world, you took care about balance and suspensions matters.
But I was just thinking that the spring for the head will not be able to bear the weight of it in the present position.
It will twist.

Not had any time to work on this for ages! Heres me trying to work out the colours! The left is all maya blinns - I had trouble getting exactly what I wanted, so I switched to mentalray mia’s on the right - really easy to setup! Arms are still not really done and the metals shining way too strong. Next i’ve gotta set up an actual scene with proper lighting and check the shaders! I need to put the yellow stripe back on his hat too.

tsurubaso - yeah, I agree with you, it’s all very precariuosly balanced. I thought about putting an internal piston structure within the neck, but it didnt really read well, and I decided to leave that element unrealistic - I really want the head to bob around ridiculously, so I kept the neck light.

Ta for checking this out - hopefully updates will move a bit quicker soon!
