Laptop Choice Help

#1

Hello,
I want to buy a laptop, so that I can carry it around and work on my 3d projects (just still images, no animation for the time being).
I have found 3 models and I would like some help for choosing the best.
I work mostly with 3dsMax 2012 and 2015, Vray, and Photoshop.
I would like to be able to render and at the same time have another 3dsMax file open and also work on Photoshop simultaneously whithout the laptop crashing.
I don’t know if this is possible with a budget of 1.500 euro max.
So here are my options in order of preference (but I am open to any advice):

  1. Dell Inspiron 7560 (i7-7500U/8GB/1TB + 128GB/GeForce 940MX/FHD/W10)
Screen: 15.6" Full HD, Resolution: 1920x1080, CPU: Intel Core i7 7500U 2.7 GHz, RAM: 8 GB, GPU: Nvidia GeForce 940MX, Hard Drive: 128 GB SSD, Second Hard Drive: 1 TB HDD, Operating System: Windows 10, Price: 1.300 euro

  2. Dell Inspiron 7566 (i7-6700HQ/8GB/500GB + 128GB/GeForce GTX 960M/FHD/W10)
Screen: 15.6" Full HD, Resolution: 1920x1080, CPU: Intel Core i7 6700HQ 2.6 GHz, RAM: 8 GB, GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M, Hard Drive: 128 GB SSD, Second Hard Drive: 500 GB HDD, Operating System: Windows 10, Price: 1.100 euro

  3. Dell Inspiron 7567 (i7-7700HQ/16GB/1TB + 128GB/GeForce GTX 1050 Ti/FHD/W10)
Screen: 15.6" Full HD, Resolution: 1920x1080, CPU: Intel Core i7 7700HQ 2.8 GHz, RAM: 16 GB, GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, Hard Drive: 128 GB SSD, Second Hard Drive: 1 TB HDD, Operating System: Windows 10, Price: 1.500 euro

Could you please tell me the pros and cons of each model?
Should I choose GeForce over Radeon?
And is the SSD disk essential?

Thank you!!

The last one is the best choice. Where are you going to buy this laptop from? (country, e-shop etc).

Don’t get a laptop for CGI work. You’re wasting your time and money. If that goes in one ear and out the other then get the last laptop on the list.

Thank you for your answers.
The thing is that I need to move around a lot and at the same time I need to do some projects.
@FatherN, I am in Greece and I would just check on the “skroutz.gr” website to get the best price possible.

Hey, Irida, I’d suggest you take a look at these two alternatives from Asus:

http://www.skroutz.gr/s/11193839/Asus-Rog-GL753VE-DS74-i7-7700HQ-16GB-1TB-256GB-GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti-FHD-W10.html

Same features, but in two sizes, 15.6" and 17.3".

The biggest advantage over the Dell 7566 is that they both have a second RAM slot available, so you can upgrade to 32gb of ddr4 in the future, and this is a paramount feature for CGI stuff, imo.

Asus has a good tradition in gaming laptops and generally provides adequate cooling solutions for them (very important factor when it comes to laptops).

Cant help you technically, but make sure windows 10 is PRO not home for I bought a new one and missed the home word now am stock on upgrading or finding someway to work with it :anguished:

Thank you all!

What limitation does the home version have which is a problem for you?

Max apparently requires Professional editions of Windows and won’t install without it. I haven’t tried this myself, just seen other posts and rants about it.
