Krita 2.9.4 is out - layer styles!

Layer styles (one of the remaining targets of the kickstarter from last year) are now implemented. No PSD layer style import yet, but soon.

From the website:

Krita is a FREE digital painting and illustration application. Krita offers CMYK support, HDR painting, perspective grids, dockers, filters, painting assistants, and many other features you would expect.

Also interesting to note here is that the goals for the next version have been set:

  • improve the painting performance exponentially so that painting with large brushes becomes smooth (3000px brushes and bigger on large canvases such as 8k and beyond) “Make Krita Faster than Photoshop”, the Krita devs call it;
  • animation!

A new kickstarter just took off to provide for these goals, but I believe I am not allowed to mention that here? (Oops - I did - sorry :wink:

Very cool.
I use Gimp now but I will try to give some feedback on this as much as I can.
Thank you.

I never got the hang of Gimp… but Krita I do. the interface is more akin to PSD in my opinion.

I used Krita for the last 6 months and I must say it is very competitive painting app, some features are even more developed than Photoshop. It is nice to see that developers are running Kickstarter campaign every year to speed up development process.

Installed it and played around for a while -> looks great!
Until now I used old PS CSII and this may be the replacement I was waiting for.
