Keyboard entry

#1

Hi folks

i am a new messiah studio workstation user
and one thing is a great bother for me!

all fields where you can type in something with your keyboard, such as names or degrees,
ar disabled. or they seem so.
i can not click in the fields, very annoying!
i searched a lot but i could not find any solution.

ps: this is my first post and excuse my bad engliSCh

I am a New Work Station user myself and had a problem where I would highlight the text in a field and when I attempted to type something the field would become deselected. I also had trouble selecting the text in a field or an item on a menu. I noticed that the mouse pointer appeared to become very sensitive (jumpy), like it could not maintain focus. I changed the mouse from a USB to a PS2 mouse and it fix everything. Who knows maybe you are having a similiar problem.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Did not solve the problem.
the cursor ā€œjumps outā€ of die fields if i click in. i also cant see any numbers by increasing or decreasing by the arrows beside them. i also reinstalled messiah but it did nothing :frowning:

If the entries in the text input field are invisible, it might be related to your graphics card, messiah is a bit picky about that. Known trouble makers are the ATI cards and the nVidia Geforce 5200. If you can give us your system specs someone can give you further advice.

allright, this is really an ATI problem. if i disable the hw-acceleration it works!
i am using a 9800xt
i tried the omega(4.12) and original(4.12) drivers but the problem did not disappear.

There are some posts here about problems with the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (don’t know how much it differs from 9800 XT). The two suggestions I could find were:

  1. Use the Catalyst 4.3 drivers

or

  1. Set the card to force 16 bit z-buffer.

Hope that helps.

Re: Suricate, forcing 16 bit z buffers worked for me. Also, depending on your ethical standards, you can softmod a 9800 series to a FireGl X2.

problem solved, thanks. i am using radlinker to only force 16bit zbuffer on messiah now

which advantages (or disadvantages) will i get from this?
any link?

The Fire GL series is ATI’s workstation line of cards. The problem is that they are the exact same cards as the MUCH cheaper Radeon series. The difference? Price.
