Title: Kathakali Actor
Name: Giorgio Lafratta
Country: Italy
Software: Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush

Hi all.

I choose this subject for the grotesque and disquieting appearance of this particular kathakali character. This subject interest me also for the complex preparation for this traditional indian dance/recital.
All modelled with Maya. Textured and retouched in Photoshop. Detailed in Zbrush and rendered with 3delight.

special thanks to Gianmario Catania for shading support

Good work man! You have some great details going on. I tried doing a kathakali actor too, and I got tired of adding all the detail. :applause: congrats. Just a little comment. Maybe you can cut back on the reflections on his chin.

#7

thank you for comment my friends.

@ vasishtr. thank you too. About the reflection on chin… i’d choose this solution to simulate sweat skin… and possible torch/flame reflection on skin.

Very good work nayar, you reached a very good level of detail and very nice shaders. My favourites are “gold” and “sweat skin”.

see you!

I really like this,

Hi brendo2026,

Thank you for comment.
For the sss pass i’ve used a shader written by my colleague for 3delight render
I’m sorry but i can’t tell you anymore, because it was the first time i used this render engine and this shading system and i haven’t got any experience in this sector.

thank you again.

Giorgio.

No Worries,

It has me scratching my chin as to weather I can or cannot do it in Mental ray, but that is just a matter of research,

Thanks for your fast reply,

3Delight is a great renderer and has some great support, I might hit there forums next time I come acrossa SSS render which should be soon enough

Thanks
B
