Jupiter's animated surface

#1

Hello,
So far i was able to emit particles a texture (jupiter) so everything looks great but i can’t figure it out how to animate the “clouds” and the red spot on the planet’s surface using PF. Does somebody know the right particle set up to achieve that effect? HEre is an examples of what I’m trying to do:

I think you’d have a hard time achieving the effect without some sort of fluid simulation like FumeFX, where you can render out the fluids, remap their colors, and project the rendered fluid on to a sphere. I’m pretty sure PFlow isn’t the right approach in this case.

If you don’t have access to any fluid simsYou could start playing around with a swirly texture map and animated UV coordinates, that might get you somewhere.

If you want it to be really cheap and easy, you can play around with the sandbox mode of plasma pong and capture the result with a screen capture program like Fraps.
