Gorgeous image so far.

Her left knee is much improved in the latest version.

My favorite part of the image is her right hand, the one that’s dangling. I think the elbow/inner elbow area of that arm needs work, though.

I like the “vampirella” hairline  – I think if you accentuated it more (perhaps by bringing the point of the widow’s peak a touch farther down on her forehead) it would be more obvious that it’s intentional.

Her left breast (the one resting on her forearm) looks a bit squared-off to me–in particular the edge of it that’s in front of her bicep.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks Nailati! I’m going to look into it right away, I still feel edgy on the image.

I hope you’ll keep working on yours! I was missing the updates.

#43

Some fixes, I think I did the left breast a bit better now and changed the nkee and shoulder area.

edit: DId some more work on the shoulder and knee this morning. I think the shoulder worked out well enough.

#44

The elbow and the boob are looking better  . Not much else to say at this point–just watching this progress.

#45

Thanks.

Ok, I’m still working on the body but I found adding little things as I go along is a good plan to crisp up the definition of her form. I’m not to good at detailing consistently yet so.

#46

Some more refinements. I hate waiting for my computer to finish things, never multitasking again :scream: .

OK, I’m adding a true res crop of her face. I hope you’ll tear it to shreds on account of shading and anatomy. I see some a lot of flaws myself, but I’m still trying to figure out if I should upres or not. Maybe some custom brushes should help, I did all this with the bristle acrylc brush(top one in the topmost cathegory ;))

#47

Well, I worked on some details and gave her left breast more weight and also different shading. I think it looks nice and more realistic this way.

Slowly closing in. I found the hair to indeed disproportionalise the facial features, which would be a shame after all the work I think. So I’m going to try and find an answer to that too.

heheh… ctrl F5 for reload.…:surprised

#48

very cool so far jmBoekestein
her hand looks too big if you meusure it you’ll see that the hand is as big as her head
very unlikely for a lady me thinks :open_mouth:
also her hear looks too distant and to high from the nose

#49

Hey thanks teal-k, I knew about the hair it was intentional befor, but I’m indeed changing it.
Thanks for pointing out the hand, prolly would’ve forgotten about that. I think though it’s only slightly too big, a hand can stretch from chin over the nose to the forehead, considering parallax, it might only be a small detail. And she doesn’t need to be all perkish :). Thanks though.

#50

jmBoekestein, your post count is intimidating :scream: Your shading is really beautiful and delicate. The only thing is when I look at the face closeup, I feel that her right eye should be moved a tiny, tiny fraction downwards, but I don’t know whether this is just me…ANyway good luck with this, it looks cool

#51

JM - rule of thumb for head/hand proportion: 1 hand covers the face from chin to widows peak.

IMO:

The planes in the upper face are working - although the bridge of the nose should be set back - the brow protrudes out the bridge of the nose dips in (even for the fairer sex).
I would sit down and define the planar elements of her face before trying to apply lighting - remember, the lighting illuminates the form.

good progress

Gord

hahah moonlantern, I assure you I’m usually quite harmless… prolly all ooh’s and aah’s anyway.

I think you’re right, either more shadow there or move it downwards.

Gord, gotcha this time dude! I saw a cassiere today which had exactly what I was looking for on her nose, only the tiniest of indent below her brow, damn near straight nose.

#53

I like the nose as it is–it’s unusual and appealing.

I like the mouth, too, and how it’s slightly downturned, but I feel like there’s something slightly off about its position–can’t quite put my finger on what it is. Sorry to be all vague.

#54

I like this drawing. I’ve watched it evolve from dark to light into a feminine form. The added weight to her breasts is very convincing, makes them look real. The only thing is that there isn’t enough shadow under them, especially on the left hand, under her left breast. I see the shadow on her left leg, but not on the wrist fading towards the leg.

I almost feel guilty, critiqing your work. I haven’t reached your level in art, but I will someday. Muah…haa…haa…ha

#55

Nailati, Yeah I personally favour this nose too. regarding the mouth I think I just might have gotten some forms weirdly, since she has a more pronounced jaw structure than usual, pouty lips too. I don’t know, going to have to check a few times before changing anything. THanks for the pointer

rmcv8, thanks for the compliment! I actually tried giving more shadow there, but it wa sdifficult, because I lost some definition of form, I’ll try and add a dark splotch but I have to keep the fomrs visible imo. Thanks.

edit: it might be a few days befor I get more updates and progress. I’mstuck with heaps to do and a horrid situation. I’ll be updating in a few days though I think, and all my sketches will be up here too. If I make any.

#56

Ok, rushed it a bit, but redid shadnig around er breast and a bit on her chest.

#57

That looks awesome!!! I couldn’t have done it that well. She’s a beauty. I need to practice the feminine form.

This thread is really helping with light and shadow. I’ve been working on a samurai picture that, after watching your technique made me want to start again. So I scrapped my color concept and decided to do it B&W.

Oh, and by the way, I just got through watching Where the Buffalo Roam. Thought of your thread, so I checked in. I still haven’t sat down to watch Fear and Loathing yet. I’ll get time this weekend, I hope.

#58

Gees, thanks!

You should realy watch it, it’s great and hilarious, allthough to a lot extremely weird. One long bad trip so to say.
I’ve watched it tens of times allready lol!

Good luck on the samurai picture, I find it quite flattering that you should restart it after my work, thanks for the compliment.

#59

Jmboekestein, I’ve been meaning to say this for a long time but you have improved so much since u commented on my Chinese woman a long time ago, ive watched your threads over the time and you have really impressed me with your undying interest and perserverence with this…great job man

#60

Thanks Ajay! That means a lot. It’s been really rewarding to do it, so it’s been easy almost easy. But one of my major flaws has always been an inability to discipline myself. I’m trying to overcome this as of late. Allthough I’ve failed at many counts at least this is showing.
