Jan Mark's Scruffy Scrapyard...

I agree on the leg seeming a bit off, and the arm was a struggle to get this far in the end.

At some point I changed the curvature of the upper leg, which makes it point (seemingly?) at somewhere higher than it should. I have to be careful with the contrast though, the overall is the most important.

I ran over the process you suggested a few times. Funny I always start poses in my minds eye that way too. the origin of all energy in the body, or attenuation point can always be traced back to the lower spine and pelvis.
At some point I simply lost track. Thanks!

Thanks Gord!

I probably would have missed it. Now I only worry whether her leg seems to bulgy on the upper leg part. I think it looks ok though. Arm is in the works, pretty odd angle for the light. I probably just went ahead not considering the lighting. Bummer. lol.

edit: Now considering the lighting.

A quick update on some shading again. Hope you like!

I’m off to meet some friends. Buh-baaih wacom…

#24

wow this is so beautiful! I love the glowy effect. Nice work!

#25

Thank you Enialadam. Much appreciated.

#26

Worked on the limbs and some mor refined shading overall. Getting there, I think. I redid the hand on her left leg. Tried making the shading more realistic, might have been staring at it too long though. Ah well, better sight in the morning I bet. (edit: guess not :hmm: )

#27

Fixed I think. I kind of like the strong balled knuckles. Gives it a bit of intensity. Any opinions? Is it too harsh in contrast?

#28

Somebody help me!!! :scream: I can’t stop my hand from moving the friggin pen!!!

:wise: some shading fixes and anal fidgetting.

#29

Hey, this is looking pretty sweet! One thing that catches my eye, though: her right leg seems just a little scrawny–like there should be slight more roundness to the top of her quad and in the calf area. Well, more quad than calf, since the calf is largely in shadow. I’m kinda splitting hairs here, but I thought I’d mention it anyway. Keep it up!

Cool stuff keep at it  The main forms are set. I should try doing my paintings in BW some time. I wonder if it is easier to get forms from the start.

Something about the hair line is bothering me like she has a big forehead. Get the neck and head connected more You can usally see the neck muscle go behind the jaw bone. My fav are the hand gesture forms you have atm! Such slight detail but it gives a clear set of the form of the hand really well done.

[i]Maybe it’s the lack of shading on the knee or something, but her left leg seems shorter than her right one. Something about the perspective on it just keeps me staring at it, and thinking it should be longer, the knee farther out from her body.

I just can’t get it in to any other words. It’s just a weird feeling more than anything else.

Thanks Chumle spuzz! :D, I’ll look into that, I think in light of morrigana’s remark on the knee I’ll do both suggestions, it’s pretty hard to see after such a long time playing with things.

Desp#2/Rog, (that’s a weird nick btw. :)) thanks, I thought the hands were pretty important, and I like challenges at the occasion. Nice to hear it actually worked out. I think the vampirella hairline is what you’re seeing. I could’ve gone overboard maybe, heheh. I’ll definitely fix the neck, I was just checking ni the mirror for what happens on me, only thing is her hair is supposed to be there. Not very readable I guess.

Morrigana, you’re right, I’m going to try ad fix it, just got back ni fresh from work so I have a few ideas.

Thanks all!

It looks likecrap, but I had an extremely bad day again, so I couldn’t rightly focus.

Tough luck.

#34

Ok, I regathered my ragged self and redid some parts on her leg, and her neck. I’m planning on further defining her face further ion. I think it’s time to consider the rest of the image now.

#35

it’s nice, and to elaborate on someones comment about the hairline… it receeds a bit much on the sides… thought you might have done that intentionally. but it’s interesting watching you develop your pictures this way. she has beautiful form to her, actual musculature… one thing thats really hittin me though is the breasts… seems rather detatched i guess… i dunno i tend to blend forms over much… but anywho!! keep goin!

#36

Yeah I thought that was the case, it was done intentionally. It adds to the overall V’s in her shape, allthough early on and not shadowcasting so that might be a problem also.

Regarding the breasts, think it might be the overly bright highlights on them? they pop a bit too much maybe?

And thanks for your kind comments, glad someone’s enjoying this.

#37

Smore shading experimentation done, and fixed some shadow anomalies. I think I’m done.

So, she’llbe perched on a spear tip clenching it with her feet like a bird somewhat. The environment won’t be too obvious, I want a sort of magical light on her mostly the rest will be topical suggestive except for the rendering of the spears and stakes and possible extra’s there.

JM

IMO:

The foreshortening in the knee (with the hand resting on it) is not quite there. The arm which is tucked in needs to be swung out a little.
The hand on that arm is coming along nicely, but its’ connection to the wrist, wrist to forearm and forearm to upperarm need to be corrected. I think there are both lighting and structural problems. Tone down the shoulder a little, its popping out at the viewer. The outter part of the knee need to be rounded. Remember - breasts have dynamic shape, the arms are pressing against them, and are going to have an impact on their respective shapes.

Keep it up

Gord

Hey, thanks again Gord.

Heheh, in regards to the breasts I think later on when it’s more apparent what sort of clothing she’s wearing it won’t be as weird looking, but it’s tough and very tight cloth, but it doesn’t cover her like a dress, it’s lose around the waste, more like a cross between a mantle and an overcoat like on tuxedo’s.

Anyway, I’ll work on her shoulder a bit more, I have to admit I left that part of her for later because the perspective is difficult there. I don’t have the luxury (yet) of such ‘bendable’ models. But the position of the arm is staying, I love it, lol. More catlike :).

Knees, yeah… :surprised a lil more uhm… Suffice to say, the first round was missing a pair of knee caps.

OK, leg, chest… uhm, I watched a movie too :D… and something else, I forgot.

:surprised …

Thanks for pointing these things out Gord!
