share with us the lightrig you are using. Maybe it just a matter to add a point light exclusive to the eyes.
Jack Jack have a more square head and his nose and hands are bigger
If you go more likeness you should try to match the proportion of Jack jack as close as possible.

I think also what is contributing to the dead eye look is the placement of the iris. If you look at the images that Scote provided, his eyes looks slightly crossed eye. Looking dead straight on, tends to make it look more doll like.
I also agree with Scote to match the original more. You have the general look and feel of the character, it’s just being knit picky and tightening it up.

Thx for the responses, i’m using an arnold area light. Yeah I think you are right about the crossed eyes.
