Issue with set driven keys on an object with constraints

My character has a simple eyelid, just a half sphere that rotates around the eye. I have set-driven keys with the eye controller. My issue is with parenting or constraining the eyelids to either the eye control or head control. Whenever I parent or constrain, the set-driven keys no longer work. So, if I rotate the head, the eye blinking does not work. I’m just stumbling through on this rigging, and have been doing alright until now. Not sure what I’m overlooking.

try adding a extra group on top of eyelid then parent constraint that top group to head control, this way set-driven keys on eyelid wont conflict with constraints.
