is there a way to import text from illustrator?

i need to import arabic text from illustrator but cant seem to find the option to do it like in maya

  • convert text to outlines ( i don’t know if you HAVE to do this)

  • export as .ai version 8 or earlier

  • import into softimage

You have to convert the text in illustrator, to curves. I think it is “Create outline” or something. No illustrator in front of me. Then you have to export it to a .eps file. Then in Softimage File > Import > EPS. You may have to save it as version 7 eps file for it to work if memory serves me right.
