Is there a mechanic to adapt clone population density? [solved]


Is there a field or effector to control the amount of generated clones?

for example how can I make clones sparser as they appear closer to the top of an object
have them be in greater numbers close to white regions of a texture.


You can’t really increase the density but if you start with the maximum density you hide away clones to reduce it. Create a plain effector and enable visibility in the parameter tab. If you now add a field any clones outside of it will be hidden and the inside one will stay. If you need a basic density you can put a random (or any other) field below it and set the blend mode of the top field to max.
