Is the CGS area dead?

Gotcha, no prob. It’s understandable. And I know what you mean…

We’ve had a few meetings like Wyatt, too… I work for a defense contractor, so most of the departments in the government/military we work with are holding their money close until they figure out what the new pres is gonna do. And so far, he’s been somewhat unpredictable, so… no telling what’ll happen.

Best wishes to all, though.

Lol, I work for a government contractor specializing in disaster recovery. You know exactly what I’m talking about. On one side I’m scared to death by Obama’s moves so far. On the other, it’s got to generate more work for people in our line of work.

Fingers crossed.

The thing what is disturbing me the most about the whole financial crisis is that the citizens are getting scared by all these media report, etc. The media and the politicians pushed this problem into a negative spiral. I mean, a lot of people weren’t a direct hit by the crisis, but they did stop spending money because they are getting ‘scared’ and saving it all up.

Now the crisis is spinning out of control, and people ARE feeling it in their pockets. I don’t know if it could’ve been prevented. I guess not. But the media/politicians are creating a unnessicary doom-scenario. At least that is what is happening overhere. I it annoy’s the shit out of me.

Oh, and while we’re at it. GM / Ford and co. are a couple of idiots too. For years they keep building these fuel inefficiant cars while they could see this problem coming for miles ahead. Everybody knows we are running out of oil, and eventually people want smaller, more efficient cars. And now they are begging for help from the goverment, after putting people’s jobs at risk. What happened to al the billions made by selling these cars…

Ugh. But hey… what the hell you I know about the problems of the world…

That is exactly what I mean by manufactured crisis. People hear about how bad things are everyday, eventually they start to believe and the economy seizes up like a burnt out engine.

The whole housing financial crisis is a government created mess and they want to blame it on the American way. How in the world did they think that sub-prime mortgages where a good idea? My Dad was a broker for a sub-prime lender and I had a little stake in that area as well (slum lord). Luckily me and my wife were able to dodge that bullet before the market collapsed on itself. That company my Dad worked for however is going bankrupt. Now who could’ve imagined that? Loaning money to people who couldn’t afford it, how could that go wrong? It makes me mad because everyone was being taken for a ride and the government not only did nothing, they pushed it even harder. Yeah, good intentions make you feel great until you can’t pay your mortgage…

Politicians, fire 'em all.
Sorry, I didn’t really mean to get political. I just can’t help it.

I was reading trough this interesting thread, and when I came up on the image of a big fat larvae I couldnt resist of not replying to this.
I’ve got reptile pet, it’s Australian Bearded dragon, anyway, he is just crazy for such larvae, and the ones I give him are a bit smaller in compare so I just cant imageine what would it be like for him to get these fatties for a snack.

This is my BD btw

these are the larvae he gets to eat.

In the end, keep theese kind of threads alive!
Cheers!

I have no idea what you are talking about… :curious:

#247

But that foto of the dragon looks nice! The beard looks good on him.

I’ve kinda railroaded here, now I see I didn’t mention it :hmm:
It was sort of reply to an earlier post of W.Harris. He found some large larvae in his backyard.
Also, this related to his post, I loved his recollection of his banana spider encounter…

And to continue the thread flow…

31.12.2008 I’ve quit my job, worked for television company, one of the biggest in Croatia, and for our standards, I had good salary, so it was not all about money, I felt my time is passing by and I dont get to use all of my abilities there.
I knew this global crisis is coming, but it didnt changed my mind, or got me scared of putting all my skils into my dream to become 100% CGI artist, or whatever it is called.

I think we are allways going to have something that will try to put us back, we just need to stay tough and keep going forward I guess. And keep these cheerful threads going. After this finacial crisis goad knows what we can expect, some awful war, or some cool ET contact, or something we cant even imagine.

Anyway, to finish, if I dont succeed in my dream, I’l have to go back to TV by the end of year,
so keep your fingers crossed guys:beer:

I have such a respect for people who are just willing to ‘throw certainty away’ and go chase their dream. I agree that you don’t have to look hard to find a dozens of reasons why not to do things. It’s not for nothing that they call it “taking a risk”. Crisis or no crisis, its about the mental state of the human mind. In my believes, anyway.

Though it seems you have the option of returning, keeping some doors open for when you’ll need it. Not everybody has that option. But it is clever.

Good luck!

Hello guys! I like the idea about the chat for members…wow…I really liked

Hehehe, I remember what he’s talking about.

He’s talking about this beetle grub I found in my yard. Page 5 on my screen.

Good to hear you are pursuing your goals Air. Always very rewarding.

Cris, these threads go off and on periodically. People get busy with work and things die down and then for no particular reason everything takes off again.

As for me I’m feeling pretty good about starting on my 5th straight hardcore modeling challenge. I’m also happy to have finished 3 of those 5. I’ll be modeling Cheetara from the Thundercats.
