Is the CGS area dead?

#1

Why is it that this area is so quiet? There is allmost no activity in these forums…

#2

This must prove it

#3

I think it may be the rest (free) of the forums have much more information

#4

Yeah, they clearly do.

But what is the reason why we CGS members don’t comunicate with each other…
There is almost no reason to have these forums, if allmost nobody uses them…

#5

I think it may be for special promotions to CG society members. I do not know for certain, I joined to support the forums. It was a great resource as a student.

#6

And i think it still is a great resource of good information, but I really love to see the CGS community to be more alive in its own section. Though I also understand that there is no real use of these private forums… because using the public section will generate more discussion and views.

#7

It used to be pretty active around here but once they archived the +20000 post chat thread people lost interest. That thread became the only spot to visit up here. Sadly the second “picture” thread just wasn’t as popular and people stopped coming.

It was pretty bad though, we were using that thing like an instant messenger at one time.

#8

Sad to hear I just came too late… but maybe its an idea for the admins to build in a web-chat kinda thing. To give the CGS area more value… and its something different than just reacting on topics, its a more alive discussion…

#9

Hey, Wyatt.

We should ask whether they can open the Bonanza again…I miss it…

What are you all up to these days!? :wip:

#10

Hey Paperclip!

The Bonanza, that was it. I just finished building this massive junglegym for the kids. That took about a month, then I finished mounting a flag pole to it with a nice big American flag.

The flag was a little bigger than I thought but the kids are digging it.

How about you?

#11

That’s amazing, did you build it from scratch?! Admit it, you mocked it up in 3d first, didn’t you?
As for me, things are getting pretty stressful right now…it’s exam time…not the best time for me to be on the internet, but it helps relieve stress, I guess. I can’t WAIT for the summer holidays - but they seem so far away at this stage (mid June) that it’s depressing. Must…keep…going…

#12

I wish, I wanted to build one from scratch because the premade ones are so expensive but I found a good deal on this one. All cedar too so it smells wonderful.

So what year are you in now? You must be getting close to graduating I guess. My sense of time flow isn’t what it used to be, seems I blink and another year passes by.

So this is how it starts Rick. This might be the next 20k thread.

#13

Haha, you’ve read my thoughts  As long as it is not dead… i’m loving it…

Though you seem to know eachother, that means you guys have a headstart. But I must say thats one awesome thing you’ve build for your kids… wish I had one when I was young

How long have you been a CGS member Wyatt?

#14

Indeed, lol. Shh…don’t tell anyone, they might close this down before it gets fun.
I love the smell of cedar, it reminds me of my grandparents’ house in Michigan. As for school, I have 2 years down and 2 to go, then a year of clinical work before I graduate from the ‘pharm farm’. I’m enjoying it so far, most of the time. The inner working of drugs is pretty fascinating and we get to make them ourselves, from the plant through to the finished formulation in your hands as you skip off down the road. It’s fun because you’re channeling thousands of years of medicines- digital glycosides (digoxin), for example, has been in use since the Egyptians were around. Bogmen (as in the iron age) have been found with willow bark in their wounds, indicating that they knew about the pain relief that it provided, even at that stage of medical discovery. Willow bark contains salicylic acid, which is where we get aspirin from. (The latin name for the willow genus is salix). Anyway, I could go on about this, but suffice it to say that it is all really very interesting. It took me ages to find something that was interesting, but now I have and I like it.

I still draw every day though, my lecture notes are crammed in the margins.

How old are your kids now?!? The last time I saw them, they were like 2 and 3 years old or something? You’re right about how time flies…

#15

That’s what I did before actually building the playhouse in the back garden

Cool JungleGym Wyatt! The kids must love it.

Ahh, bonanza… great friendships were formed, even love between 2 souls and not to forget, I even found my long lost sister … ok, that was not good cos she can be annoying from time to time

#16

Could someone explain what bonanza is?

#17

It’s the process by which XDUGEF is formed.

#18

Stop teasing him!

have fun reading

My Mom has a few items in her house that are cedar so I always loved the smell.

School sounds awesome and the fact that you love makes it all the better. Theres an old quote by Confucius that says “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”, I’ve always believed in that.

This year my kids will be 10, 6, 4 and 1. Yep, we’ve had another in the meantime. the only constant in life is change.
