Here was a take on Tane Mahuta from a while ago. Maybe he was going to be an old smoking hag, not perfect but had many flaws. One which included loving human woman. By Linhan Ye

Its great seeing Maori design come into our midst. Integrating it into more contemporary art forms like concept art and 3D is going to be fun. This thumb is done by Paul Vloothuis who is going to be doing a series of images to help out.

Another piece from Paul Vloothuis. This is his take on Irirangi arriving at the island as he goes under a cave he see’s Carvings in the cliffside.

In this piece by Jared Wikeepa we have the Taniwha leaving earth. They are summoned back to the spirit world as the world had become corrupt and is about to be destroyed by Papatuanuku and who is the Maori god for Mother Earth.

Another Piece by one of our talented artists helping in the project. Matt Forsyth. He has a great style and has captured something I have been looking for. Engraved into the mountain cliffs are Maori Carvings. Great stuff.

Hi Ken,
I’ve been following this thread since you plugged it in the Kekai Kotaki thread. Just wanted to say this is some very cool stuff. I especially like Jared’s work as well as the water/cliffs painting by Matt Forsyth. Some excellent atmosphere there. It’s also exciting to see someone bringing a slightly different (Maori in this case) point of view to their project. Thanks for introducing this! I’m looking forward to seeing how this project progresses!
Some updates from our Art Director . Also thanks Crotalis it is exciting seeing it slowly come to life. With the help of others we can do so much.

More concepts for when Irirangi finds the flame inside the temple. Animatic is coming along nicely as well.

Here is a great piece by Jared Wikeepa continuing to make great art for this project.

And another piece by Ejiwa Ebenebe.

Hey everyone, we have finally finished our 2D Animatic for the short film “Irirangi the spirit talker”. The short started Pre-Production roughly 3-4 Months ago and it has evolved so much since then. Check out our animatic on the Irirangi Youtube channel and any updates on the artwork via our webpage www.irirangithespirittalker.weebly.com
The 2D animatic was quite fun to watch, even something painted in that style (with more polish) would make a superb film, would require a lot of hand drawn work tho. I’ll keep an eye on this project, looking forward to the 3D wip, if you plan on sharing some of it with us.
