would be great if someone could explain how to put all these passes together into a final comp
ie. which layer order and what blend modes to use as well as seperating the shadow from the diffuse etc.
i remeber a tutorial before that did this but cant for the life of me find it again

Nice tutes guys, and thanks William for spending the time on all these handy vids. I have a question regarding the multipass compositing. I understand the part about using the inverted shadow pass to remove the shadow then re-adding the shadow back in for control, but how would I go about then adjusting the shadow that’s in the reflection pass to match any changes I make to the shadow pass itself? Or is that a dumb question? :eek:

about shadow question… is not a dumb question.
if you do a single render you can’t remove shadow from reflection pass, be cause you not have a pass to remove from it, the only way that i know is to render a separate pass without shadow for reflection. eventually only the single reflective obj.
i hope that in future newtek add to lw the ability to render out in a single render more info like cinema4d.
a good thing of c4d render is a separate pass for each light, a separate diffuse, specular, color pass for each light, that allow you to re light the scene after render in postproduction.
you can do same thing in lw with different render, with c4d one render, and you have compositiong for shake, combustion, after just build…
p.s. about shadow, you cannot do that also in c4d with a single render.
