#105

very impresive work

#106

very inspired , superbe , insame,wow , big wow !! !

#107

Holy Crapola… I always find the most effective art (or for that matter, tv show) is the kind that engages you emotionally, and looking at this picture for about 4 minutes has already prodcued a range of emotional responses, which I don’t normally get when I see most art.

I feel like I need to give someone a reasuring hug now, but there’s nobody here to hold!

This is stunning… mindblowing work…

#108

You are a machine, how do you do it so fast??? I love the colours, on my screen it looks like a warm orange and purple/blues… Thumbs up!

#109

I’ve done a little variation of the colors…more “HOT”. You’re really one of the great artist i’ve never seen in my life. PLESE TEACH ME DRAWING

Cheers from italy

P.S. Try to put your brightness to 25 and contrast to 100.

The face, the dress, just perfect.

5 STARS!

Oh, I thought this topic had already dropped out of sight, and here I find it on the front page, heheh. Whee! Thanks to whoever plugged it!

Ah, and tell me if you’re interested in buying this as a print – I’m selling them in my devart gallery at the moment.

Rosevine – :] thank you. I absolutely love designing dresses. It was one of those things I wanted to do when I was younger – design clothes. I think my taste differs from the general conception of fashion though.

-Vormav- – Thankee :] As I said in the post’s introduction, I used my friend Mikaela as a model for the precise reason of never having painted someone looking in a mirror before. I wanted it to look right :]

Kaggen – Thank you :] You’re right, of course, about the skewed perspective. I just can’t seem to ever pull it off, and it always ends up annoying me because the things won’t look quite like I want them. Heh, being a perfectionist is a bitch

Neochris – Thank you :] Glad you find it atmospheric !

Danzarin – Thanks :] You’re right about the hand
I probably won’t go back to change it now though. I have to force the perfectionist in me to give it a rest at some point, or it will drive me nuts: correcting every iddy biddy thing is just not possible (though I really appreciate it pointed out – so helpful for the next image!) The expression, though
I wanted it quietly desperate on the girl – not psycho, she’s supposed to look haunted. The faces in the background are psycho enough :]

Alan – Thank you kindly :] I tried to copy/paste your username but MS word won’t let me, so I hope you forgive me using your real name.

Plaf – Whee, glad you like it :]

Enochian – Aw, thanks :] I love CGtalk, I’m glad you like having me here.

Tinitus – Heeeh, always makes me all giddy when people recognise my paintings as ‘mine’. Yay!

Jay7347 – Hi there :] And thank you. I usually aim and miss at the emotions in pictures
it’s my latest thing, trying to nail the feelings as well as the technique. Glad you enjoyed the attempt :]

3dRaven – Thanks :] And, yeah, I probably should have worked more on the mirror-dagger bit
once more the case of me getting caught up in other stuff (like the faces, for instance) and forgetting about something.

Phrenzy84 – Aw, thank you :]

Calzoncillos – Much thanks for your long and thoughtful reply :] It’s a good idea regarding posting the picture with different setting. I’m not sure if I can be – oh, this is an awful thing to say
but bothered, though. If I just know that one setting looks okay on most computers, I think I’ll just go with that. It would drive me nuts to have to do four different variations of every picture I posted, rather than focusing on posting close ups and cut outs, you know? But, yeah, it’s a great idea, but though I might do it once just to see what would work best for people, I don’t think I’d do it regularly. And thank you kindly regarding the hatemail thing <3

Rennie – whee, thank you :]

Rakmaya – Thank you kindly :]

Spc – Thank you :]

Feeb – Aw, that means a lot, coming from you. But you don’t need models, do you? I love the figures in your paintings, they’re so beautiful :]

Mindrot – Thanks :] My work keeps switching back from fantasy to horror, as it always has done. The horror themed paintings are never nearly as popular though, so I suppose I’ve focused a bit on the fantasy/fairytale thing lately :]

Creature monkey ape – thank you :]

Supervlieg – Thank you. :shamefaced: I know about the arm. I did a
um
artistic liberty thing and just didn’t paint it in where it would have showed just sliiiightly to the left of her face – because when I did paint it in, it was just in the way and bugged me out. Big mistake  maybe I’ll fix it later :]

Alden – Thanks :] They’re not meant to be immediately noticeable. I generally enjoy painting pictures where you see lots of different things, like a little story in itself.

Fahim – Aw, tack så mycket, rara!

Sergage – Thank you :] And, whee, you have Cartman as your avatar.

Lystmaler – Heheh, glad you recognized it :] Thanks <3

Derbyqsalano – Aw, thanks <3 You like Poe too, eh? I grew up loving him, such an eerie use of language he had.

Character – well, because apparently, the calibration I have now is supposed to be the ‘right’ one. I’m just so used to the screen being much, well
I don’t know, just different than it is now. I’ll just have to get used to it I suppose. Thanks :]

Pushav – Aw, no, you are! The title is all yours. :kowtows before the champion:

Jånnis – Thank you :] that’s pretty much the order I wanted things to be detected in. I have a new theory regarding digital work, you see.

Traditional paintings are always best when you see them in real life, right? Always at their prettiest when you’re standing RIGHT before them and you can look at them at your leisure. There is no reason to why this can’t also be true about digital work. I think a lot of artists adapt their paintings to be screen-sized, best displayed at 900x900 pixels, which is a little bit of a cop-out, I think. I try to paint my pictures so they’re best displayed on a huge screen, or on a computer where you can zoom in and out on the details.

Anyway, I ramble  Thank you!

INFINITE – Aw <3 thanks

Requiem – so you recognized the Dorian reference, huh? I’m glad!

Dark-moon – Thank you!

Fourty.two – Thank you
and you’re right, I suspect
hm, maybe I should brighten it a bit. I suppose I was just SO freaked out by how it looked on my friend’s monitor.

Philip – thank you so much! :] always nice to hear from you.

SOuLjA`- – Thanks :} !!

Evil Gerbil – heheh, yes, I work with insane speed when I’m obsessed. Thank you!

Stong – Thanks :]

Zuki1 – Indeed, I do love to hear about the little details :] Thank you!

Oz haver – thank you, Oz :] I’m glad you like it!

Junerahe – thanks!

Ashen – Thank you very much :]

Oxyg3n – Thanks
Mm
am starting to suspect I shouldn’t have darkened it any. I’ll try to update later with the original variation.

Titan – I think my monitor sucks. If I weren’t so broke after some insane purchases, I’d buy a new one. Mine is very old and very terrible – which isn’t a good thing, considering that the screen is one of the most important tools of a digital artist, sigh. As for the tutorial, nah, I’m afraid I’ve not done one yet. I’ll think about it in the future. Thanks :]

Trower – Aw, thanks :] I’m always happy to see you reply to my topics – there’s always some interesting thought coming my way, I just know it. Very appreciated <3

Lockfan – heheh, horrible and great at the same time, best kind of combination  thank you!

^vampire^ – Thankee :]

ms@zx – Thank you :] I’m glad I dropped it from the competition
I felt less limited and restricted when I finished it outside of the competition: not so bound by the theme, if you will (I think it turned out better because of it). Also, I didn’t have to go through the tedious lineart step, which just messed my process up with the last image :]

miditsai – Thanks!

Romero – Aw, thank you. That’s very kind of you.

Gorvien1 – Yay, thanks!

Phoenix – thanks :]

m@lonet – thank you :]

Danange – I’m so happy :] I’ve been getting so many replies only regarding technique lately, I’m glad I can still provoke emotion regardless of technique (though perhaps thanks to it). Thank you :]

Fooxoo – haven’t someone told you yet? I’m an alien, that’s how I work so fast! I have five arms and two tails, lots of digital pens can be held with such assets <3 thanks!

Frenchy Pilou – Thank you :] I hope you checked the additional close-ups on the second page!

Tilstrom – Thanks :]

Zocsi – Thank you very much :]

Eidan – Thank you :] I am going to brighten the picture but I don’t really want more contrast
as I like my dark pictures a little murky in their colours, no abrupt highlights and no too-stark shadows :] Thank you for the help, though!

XaviXander – Thanks

Oh man, that was a LOT of replies D: thank you so much, everyone. I hope I didn’t leave someone out, it’s all too easy when replying to SO much.

Colour looks perfectly fine on my laptop… juz as you’ve described the colours to be

And the work is AWESOME!!! Quality stuff from you as usual… :bounce:

#119

linda, if you want to make an image for the web then convert to the sRGB space at the last stage of the process (sRGB is a narrow gamut, so not the best for creation per se)…but it is the default colour space of windows 2000 and xp. Assuming the hardware puck has done its job when you convert (not assign) to sRGB you should see what others are seeing as their default in their browser.

I know that you have already gotten a lot of reply’s to this post , but I just coudn’t pass up the opportunity to put in my two cents worth. From what I can see of most of your posts, you never fail to inspire and this piece is certainly no exception. I especially like the way you portrayed the hot surroundings but the cold reflection in the mirror. Brilliant! Thank you for the inspiration.
