Into Your Eyes, Linda Bergkvist (2D)

great work!!! i have always enjoyed viewing the images you do  where do you get the ideas for them?

#202

This is really lovely. I was lurking on your M&S thread when you talked about starting this one, and it’s great to see the result! I also really do like the less-polished look - your usual final pieces are gorgeous, but I love seeing some brushstrokes and lightness of touch to things.

I also love the slight veinyness in her face and am a complete stickler for dark themes

I don’t think your post will be met with hostility, but rather a desire for futher clarification. What do you mean when you say the piece doesn’t have “electricity”? Is your criticism founded on the style in which Ms. Bergvist used or the technique? Do you find the piece emotionally lacking because it is representational? Do you have suggestions regarding the compositon, the use of color, better use of negative space? Your suggestion towards Ms. Bergvist to “loosen up” might be viewed as constructive, but please keep in mind the artist must fist please themselves before others. Putting work up in a public form is not an easy thing to do, I don’t mind the fluffs if the work is strong enough to warrant it. I believe Ms. Bergvist deserves a good deal of praise for her willingness to share her work and her techniques; and that is electric enough for me. I am sure your suggestions come form the heart, Neon so please don’t take offense.

Very cool, Linda.
The colors look fine to me: a warm bronze-orange, and a purple-blue.
Keep up the great work.

it is amazing the amount of emotion you convey in your paintings! hats off

#206

I hope “noen” can give us a link to her own work, so that we can see this electricity that Linda is supposedly lacking? Maybe that would make it clearer for us?

#207

wonderful!!!
i have nothing to say
something feelling…

#208

The electricity is never found in the artwork, it’s in the viewer (or not). It’s a very personal thing. Some people feel electricity when they see some coloured blocks hanging in a museumhall and some people can only feel electricity when they plug there fingers in a socket.
Personal about this artwork of Linda I don’t feel anything electric about the subject, it moves nothing inside me, don’t know why, maybe the lack of expression of the girl in a setting of pure insanity, or maybe I need a shrink. But ahh, I feel lots of lots of eletricity about the way the scene is painted! The use of colours, the details, the perfection. Wow, that’s amazing!
