Iâd settle for a modo shirt, itâs a really sweet logo.
Interview with Luxology's Brad Peebler
Thanks sheep for that. I have had modo for 5 days now. Everything brad said still doesnÂt do modo justice. You really have to try it to see just how great of a modeling tool it is. It does so many things I never even thought of, itÂs truly well deserved of all the hype itÂs gotten in my opinion.
Gnarf!
The Thundercats are great! - although Mumm-Ra really cracks me up nowadays. Funny guy
To stay on topic. Thanks for a cool interview, I have to try Modo very soon.
Is it just me or is Brad Peebler starting to look a lot like a smaller Mr Incredible :wip:
Looking forward to seeing Modo and other Luxology products. I like the spirit they are showing.

nice
thanks for that ali, much appreciated ![]()
it does look like a nice appâŚnow if only there was a demoâŚ
lol [sorry, couldnât resist ]

Hey all,
not trying to be an ass, but I donât see what the big appeal with Modo is, could someone fill me in as to whatâs exciting to them about this? Again, Iâm not trying to be critical, Iâm really curious. Thanks.
your not being an ass, your being lazy.
there is also a cgtalk forum for modo on here, look through some of the posts and find out what people are saying.
Modo is the most extensible and customizable modeling tool ever created. This will make it a hit with major film studios. Itâs unique in that it rides upon a 3D âoperating systemâ which will make cross platform plugin development easier.
Luxologyâs software works on both Mac OS X and Windows, but it will be the first 3D system to really take full advantage of the OS X platform (some other 3D companies treat the Mac as an after thought).
Demos of Luxâs upcoming renderer are very exciting. Itâs very fast. Itâs fully extensible.
Hmmm⌠why does Luxologyâs Brad Peebler always remind me of Buzz Lightyear?

To infinity and beyond?
yeah, youâre right, Iâm lazy, Iâll just check into it when I get home from work. Just thought maybe Iâd get someone to do all the work for me
anyway, thanks for the response.
cool interview, I just wish there was a demo of some sort, as its alot of dough to shell out before acualy trying it. Ill have to wait for the reviews
At this point MODO looks nice, but a bit limited being only a modeler and UV layout editing program. Sure MODO seems to have some new and nice tools not found in other packages but those are bound to be copied in some form and either integrated or released as plugins for other packages. For the freelancer I dont think modo will has much success, most people needs to do more than modeling and these days most packages has quite good tools built in for modeling. However, I do believe that larger companies would benefit from something like modo, at most smaller places you never have people who do modeling only, but at bigger companies maybe you would have some people working on just this part of the pipeline, and for that modo seems great. Iâm in no way bashing the software, its a modern and flexible solution. According to luxology the codebase is portable to nearly any OS and can easily be extended to offer other functionalities such as integrated rendering and animation tools. If things goes well I have no doubts that in time MODO will evolve to something much bigger than just a modeling package.
Just my two cents
Ah, great he makes it a bit more clear what Nexus is, many people mistake it for the renderer. Itâs just like i expressed in this post
Iâm saving upâŚ
Brad Peebler has said that sales of Modo have been well above expectations. Itâs good to hear that Modo is a success, though I suspect the initial surge in sales might partly be a result of the introductory discount price.
We know that Luxology is working on a renderer to go with Modo, as theyâve demonstrated it at various trade shows.
I think Modo offers the best of 2 worlds⌠being a separate modeling program, but can also be integrated inside Luxologyâs renderer. Both modules would ride on top of the 3D operating system, which makes it different to other 3D packages.
Thanks for the quick response.
that means the academic version should be announced in the next week! I canât wait.
