Intersecting edgeflow


Hi, I just wonder, what problems do you get from this type of topology? Edgeflows that intersect themselves. Right now I got this problem in a game character model. I have a few of these self-intersecting loops… Will there be serious problems, and if so, will the problems be fixed if I triangulate (and then make some optimizations)?

Also, I’m interested in what problems this would create in a film character?

Bonus question: do you know about any good tutorials on topology and deformation?

The way I check to make sure edgeflow will work is I add a turbosmooth modifier to see if it causes any issues.
