Interior: Room with a view

#1

Hello. I just finished up another interior. This one took me about a week and a half…on and off. Lightwave 7.5 for everything. Comments and crits very welcome!

yep, that is spot on dude, can’t see anything wrong. hang on i’ll look again.

nope, still nothing. awesome work, the modeling seems great, like it doesn’t all look perfect, which makes it look real. the bricks are working really well and so is the lighting. do you reckon you could show a wireframe.

i keep looking at it and i can’t find anything, awesome work!!:bounce:

the cg looks right, but the composition with that background photo looks strange, maybe making the background more orange/yellow or the room more blue would help. nice work

It loooks as though the window has a screen because it doesn’t have the crispness or vibrance of the interior. I agree also that the blue tint and seemingly overcast sky doesn’t fit with the bright sunlight coming in from the rear. The pottery appears unglazed; this is a tad odd. The stools are too perfectly aligned.

Other than those bits, this is amazing. I’d normally be more positive, but I’ve hated brown/beige colour schemes like this since I was a kid in the late 70’s.

I would agree, the colors of on the outside are not quite as vibrant as those of the interior, but I am not sure if that is necessarilly wrong… the only thing that through me off is that the camera seems to be at a tilt or something making everything a little bit skewed but as a whole the scene looks awesome, btw what are those things behind the couch???
Really nice work overall, keep it up,

Very nice work. But since fanboy comments dont give you musch feed back on improving a piece i will mention a few things. First off the lighting is good and so is the use of shadow but the lighting and mood doesnt mach the scene outside. The outside is obviously a picture and it does not fit in with the scene. The inside is filled with warm reds oranges yellows. The contrasting outside would look good accept instead of having a slight blue and green tint (complementary of red and orange) it has a gray kind of underexposed muddy look. It just kinda doesnt work with the scene. At first glance the viewer will accept it but any cloeser study and it just looks off. On another note the lamps black shade should have a litle soft shading so it doesnt look flat. The book shelf on the right has a roow of books that are absolutley identicle. That is not good. Even a series or encyclopedia has books of varying thickness. The pink red candle also feels off. and thats all i could find wrong at all. This trully is a great image and i hope my sugestions helped. I would like a wire also. This is a very nice relistic architectural piece. Great job and good luck.

Great modeling, texturing and lighting.

The only thing I can complain about is the background out of the window. It looks like the angle that the photograph was taken, and the angle that you have your camera are different. It looks like the building is ‘leaning’ over slightly.

Thanks for the crits. The main crit seems to be the background image, and for good reason. I had a hard time setting that up, no excuses really, just need to get better at matching the lighting. I agree that some of those books need some more variation, but the books were taking forever to do so i slacked off a little. I should have put a light next to the black lamp to give it a highlight, thats my mistake. Half, those things behind the couch are stools. They dont look too comfortable though. Heres a wireframe.

your work is always top notch and the wire frame shows how clean eveything is. great work once again

Damn Otacon, you’re like Pringles, once you pop you can’t stop… I followed a WIP once, and since that one you only make better and better stuff!

like the two lightwave books on the shelf to funny.
other than that like the mood of the lighting…only thing i don’t like much is the outside picture really…just seems wrong but can’t define why…sorry i should be able to but i can’t…

Thanks. Here is the light setup. Interpolated radiosity. There is one spotlight outside that cant be seen in this shot, it has 110% intensity.
