Installing wings under linux

#1

I recently got one of my systems up and running in Linux.

While later on I want to attempt to load my bigger packages using Wine, I want to get comfortable with Blender/Wings first under a native linux environment.

I downloaded the linux version of Wings, unzipped it, and got a file titled .run. However, this .run file won’t do much of anything but open in a multitude of text editors.

Does anyone here have experience using wings under linux, installing wings under linux, or just how to use/manage these .run extensions?

I come from a purely mac background so this is all very new.

Thanks Y’all,

hi
go to dir where your .run-file
in console:
cd /your path(enter)
sh wings-0.98.32a-linux.run(enter)
you will see:Verifying archive integrity… All good.
Uncompressing Wings3D…
Installing Wings 3D 0.98.32a in /home/your name/wings-0.98.32a
go to there and run ./wings (all this in console)
