Inserting a 3D-Animation in a Video

#1

Hey there, I hope this is the right place to ask about this, didn’t really know what to search for, so:

I’ve seen in the internet how someone modeled a simple mesh in Blender and then inserted it into a given Video-scene. Just like a camera filming outside and afterwards he inserted his model into that video, making it look like the model would fly.

Now my question is how is that done? Can I take the video and use it as some kind of background in Blender when rendering? Or is there another way to achieve this?
I just remember that it was not so hard, but I never found that site again, nor do I remember how that worked.

Sorry if that was asked already, I hope you can help me.

Thx in advance.
/Daniel
