Ink'n'Paint Rendering Optimization?

Ink’nPaint is a nifty little material, but dayum, does it render slowly! As in, a single frame gets ten to twenty extra minutes tacked onto it compared to rendering with exclusively Standard materials.

Anyone know any hints or tricks to speed it up, or is it just a quirk of the material and you can’t do a thing about it?

Just to clarify…I mean…I’m picturing the kind of thing where you turn off a lot of bells and whistles you don’t need for Ink’n’Paint that you might use with a more realistic style. Indirect lighting and suchlike.

Something like that…or something I haven’t thought of, I guess. But that’s what I’m picturing in my head.

Turning off “Final Gather” seems to have had a rather extreme effect on render time. In a good way.
