Initial response to V7

#21

Yeah! what did I say?
thought I said that.

I didn’t use 6.6 because there wasn’t a difference in how I used v7.0. I only needed interactive speed. I was able to resave v7.0 back into 6.5 for other users animating the robot in 6.5. This was HUGE. Also, the Renderer use lots of 3rd party shaders that worked only in 6.5. It was a drag for animator that worked in 6.5 but they seemed to get a long nicely. The client loved the work.

Thnx for the reply

Rendered straight out of EIAS. No post work.
New rendering features are just great.

Very nice. And a great example of the two new features.
Thanks Dave!

Someone said “everybody does car renders the days”, though that maybe true, but not everybody can meet the client needs, nor every software.

Great work.

Here’s a sample I did with DWu, but it wasn’t EI so I’m not doing a thread in this forum.

Interesting render Dave.

Do you have an idea of the render time ?

What is more annoying though is the problem of the DoF effect through thte side window.
You can see here the problem that each 2D DoF post-effect are facing, i.e. the inability to take the glass into account. :frowning:

But i think the problem would have been a lot less noticeable if the DoF effect wouldn’t have been so strong.

Alonzo, very nice website.
Did you do it ?

Pretty fast. 2 minutes per frame. On an original 2ghz G5. This would “scream” on a MacPro.

Well, this was done in a single layer.
You can output specific objects to multiple layers and add DOF to each independantly.
That should allow you to do DOF to the car and windows seperately.
I just didn’t do this on my test.

Thanks for the comments!

Thanks Dave for your answer, much appreciated.

On the DoF front, i have to say that although it doesn"t seem to do Bokeh effects, the way the DoF is handled in EIAS (through multi-frames…) seems to be good for DoF through glass. :bounce:

I’ll have to test this feature though to be sure of this, but that would be great !

We all expect some great automotive work from you soon Reuben!

I’m quoting myself here as a follow-up of my tests.

Here are 2 renders showing the multi-frame DoF in action.

Sorry for the small renders, but they are made with v6.6 demo version.
The second render is confusing too due to some evident problems in the geometry.
It’s interesting to note that the artifacts appear with high IOR (like 1,5-1,6) and not in the first render where the IOR is only at 1,01 ?

Cheers,

I’m getting to grips with the new features, i like what i see, the things you can now do with images and light are great…

No, no, that emoticon is all wrong: you must put an unmistakable menacing edge to it, Ming The Merciless-style, or Darth Vader-esque. Where is the implied “or else” ?
