InheritRoot expression Help

#1

Ok this might be fairly basic but I am fairly new… so any help or clues will be good

I have a large chain of bones, the first one is affected by

cos(NOW/8)/10

then I have InheritRoot reading that bone to affect the rest of the chain, problem is, If I use any other value than 0 on FrameDelay Inherit Root does nothing and well I Do need the delay, so I guess the problem lies in the way I am using “NOW”

Any clues?

Thanks in advance.

I think the delay you are wishing to have is not what Inherit Root is used for.

The Falloff looks like it’s integer only, so… its like saying falloff, or no falloff. when you put it to anything above 0, it wont use the second value.
the second one, the value, is the gradient to control how much curl happens on the end. higher values will add more angle onto the bones farther down the chain.

if your intention is to lag a wave, then you need to feed each chain a part of your original expression with a +1 for time offset. I.E. cos(NOW/8)/10 +1, (cos(NOW/8)/10)+2, etc… into each of your bones.

The other option is to use the chainwave for your lag, use NOW/100 instead of static values, to get your waving.
