Importing nDynamics take very long time

#1

Hi,

I have a fairly complex nSim scene consisting of 2 nSolvers, 1 nCloth and 1 nHair. When I import the simulation setup scene to my render scene it takes really long time - approx 40 minutes. When I import the render scene to my dynamic setup it takes a few seconds. Just opening the nSim scene takes approx 1 minute. Does anyone know how I could make the importing of the nSim scene faster or what causes the very long time delays? It happens in Maya 2012, 13 and 14 all x64.

Thank you,
M.

Is your sim scene saved at frame 0 or before the sim?

Im betting thats it, that its importing and simming it up to whatever frame you have it saved on

Hey Howard, tested it with rewinding to frame 1 both scenes and it seems to be a bit better but still - opening the sim scene takes a minute, and importing it approx. 30 minutes now. Thanks - you saved me 1/4 time  Anyways, I think this delay could be caused because I’ve got over 3000 dynamic curves, being wrap deformed, and it is quite complex setup - when importing it probably needs to go through all the nodes to check for unique names etc. and when it finds a colliding name it needs to rename it, and because of the complexity of the graph it needs to mark dirty quite a lot of nodes … can’t think of another reason. The same happens when I try to reference the sim scene setup - takes forever to reference.

Thank you for helping out,
M.
