Hello is there a way to export the camera from Maya and import it into vue and have the animation working smoothly…
importing Cam and animation from Maya to Vue
Funny. I asked the exact same question in here a couple of days ago, and that was after having read through the documentation several times.
But if you look at page 464 in the Documentation PDF you will find a pretty good explanation of how to export the animation data from Maya and apply it to a Vue camera using the VueSynch plug in for Maya. Don’t exactly know why or how I could miss this part of the chapter.
Anyway, I just tested it and it seems to work perfect.
I hope this information helps you
Cheers,
Claus
Tnx for the reply I tried to read through the manual, couldnt find anything.
So do I need to upgrade vue to the 6.5 version.
and with this method I dont need to have xstream or … will it still work with xStream.
/tnx once again for the reply
It does not matter if you use xStream or Infinite, and version 6.0 is fine.
You need to install the plugin for Maya called VueSynch which you will find in the Synchro Plugins folder on the CD. I doen’t think this is included in the PLE version.
When you have installed the plugin you should do this:
-
Open your Maya scene with your animated camera.
-
Load the plugin in Preferences/Plugins and type Vuesynch in the script editor. This will load a gui showing the cameras in your scene.
-
Select the camera you want to export animation from, click the export button and save the animation to at file.
-
Load Vue Infinite or xStream and go to the Animation menu and choose Import Synchronization Data. Select the file you exported from Maya.
-
Select the Vue camera that you wish to synchronize
-
Go to the animation tab of the object properties panel and select “Synchronized” in the motion type list.
-
In the “Synchronize with” list box you will see the name of the camera you exported from Maya. Select this, and the animation will be connected to your Vue camera.
-
Now you have the animation applied to your Vue camera, and you can use the scale factor to resize your camera and animation to fit within your Vue environment if necessary.
Well said! Also, thanks for saving my fiingers from typing all that!
It is a nice workflow.
Really xStream and Infinite are the same thing when it comes to Vue, but things really go into Infinite where as xStream alows to to pull Vue into your host application.

Is that possible to export camera animation from 3d studio max 2008 to vue 6 infinite or xstream? any plugin for max 2008? i found only for max9
I’m wondering the same thing for Maya 2008- the 8.5 plugin for Maya is a .lib, with the other plugins on OSX being .bundle, I try to do a search in 08 for the plugin, and it greys out the .lib file
