I need some guidance on how to go about creating an effect in houdini for the following scenario:
I have an image which I can load into Houdini, I’d like to make that image transition into a 3d model of fluid.
I’ve considered using the ripple effect on the image, but would like to make it so that with each ripple, the image ‘pixels’ get less dense so it looks like it is becoming a fluid. Over 2 or 3 ripples it would then be a solid mass.
I’ve considered that a key challenge will be to map the pixel colors to the solid as I would like to preserve these. Maybe the final 3d model can be a collection of pixel blobs?
Any ideas? Has anyone seen this done before?
