I don’t know why it was rejected. I can see why you have to resort to asking here, I posted my rejected image to the WIP forum as I was told to do, and it has so far been a waste of time. Only one person took the time to respond, so using that forum for help in improving the image is a waste of time.
It seems better just to get Leigh’s opinion here directly, which I am sure is not what she wants to do, otherwise there wouldn’t be the generic rejection message. Leigh would not have time to critique every rejected image. In the case of my image and yours, almost nobody else has time either.

You should take the time to see the subforums really, there’s a Focused Crtitique one, you get a lot more attention a lot faster.
Don’t wanna sound like an a**hole but the image is nothing but barely average. It doesn’t tell a little story, composition isn’t interesting or functional, it isn’t clear what the situation is, is there a situation actually? I don’t know, it would be great to know why you think it should be accepted.

It’s not hard to guess who rejected it. The Showcase Galleries are the new CG Choice Galleries, and CG Choice is the new Valhalla. Sorry man, you’d have better luck submitting to ‘Three Dee Total’ (this forum actually censors the title of the competitor forum - who knew?).
It looks fine man. Sorry about your luck, this has been happening a lot lately.

Hey bearfoot,
I wanted to respond to this thread but didn’t know how to, without sounding bad.
Your work is awesome and i really respect you as an artist.
But talking about this particular image. To me, it have too much of aliasing going on. too much noise on shaders. Cloth texture could have been better. And i can not judge if the thing he is standing on, is a piece of rock or some sort of rusted metal. And the most interesting part of this image is a stock model(the sword).
Just pointing out the possible reasons for rejection.
