IK Solver problem!

#1

I want create one simulation of wheels of a train with piston from “Cylinder01” to “Cylinder02”…
I want use “IK HI solver” for this purpose but I don’t know how made the Inverse Kinematic:

I have linked the “IK Goal” to “Cylinder02”: the result are that also “First Bone” rotate with IK but only 90 degrees! I want that the “First Bone” rotate 360 degrees!

I should change the connections? I should unlock a particular axis?
With “HI solver” are possible to do a rotation of 360 degrees or only 90 degrees for the first bone attached?

There are a link to view the images of my little project and download scene for 3DSMAX 8:
www.cavallodario.it

Please response me or download the file, modify it, and give me a correct version of this scene…please!

scroll down the page a little, you’ll see a link for a downloadable tutorial for this kind of thing.

hope this helps! you could also try using wiring. that means linking the rotation of one wheel to the rotation of the other wheel. then if you stuck the piston on and linked it properly, it would move just fine with the wheels, even though it wasn’t driving the second wheel’s animation. the only thing you’d have to animate is one wheel.
