I am referencing a character in Maya 2012 and when I render out the scene the IK handles show up in the render. I have them unchecked in the show panel but for some reason they will not turn off even when I have everything turned off in the show panel. I am also not able to select them when I scroll over them with my mouse. I can turn them off when I open up the character I am referencing and they do not render. I have had to bring in the character again to animate and this time I can turn off the IK handles. Any idea of getting round this by using a script to maybe turn them off or is it just a question of having to bring in the character again.
IK Handle Bug

Do you mean in playblast ? (which is to be expected if you haven’t switched them off in the display). Standard IKhandles should not be rendered, ever, also I’ve never seen a character setup with ‘default’ IK handles showing up; they’ve always been parented to a controller object.
Care to show a screenshot ?

Thanks for your reply. I am rendering with the Maya Hardware 2.0 renderer when this happened. I have figured a work around the problem by assigning the ik handles to a layer and making them unrenderable.
