First of all gj, there is quite many things you could do to improve, but what I feel is most important is to have some more colours in it because now its not so intresting and it doesnt catch your eye. And second biggest problem is that the perspective seems to be a bit off, but good start.
Pay attention to lighting.
Your mountain, and foreground are being lit from the left side, your cathedral - from the right.
Also your values (light-to-dark) are the same throughout the painting. foreground elements should have more contrast, mid-ground less, and background elements should have the least.
Your composition needs work. Matte paintings tend to be wide paintings (unless there’s a pan-up), so your layout needs to be wider (1.77:1 or 2.35:1). Also, the point of interest in the painting (the cathedral), should never be in the middle of the painting.
It seems your perspective is a tad off as well -
I agree with the previous post - try and introduce more color - this painting is pretty monochromatic.
But a nice start!
Matt
