I5 Minute Sketchathon - Thread 2: Sketches

Originally posted by Mr. Mu: I remember this piece which is 40 seconds musical ideas and development and then 2 or 3 minutes just end phrases and cadences, building up a completely absurd and hilarious climax. I laughed so hard when I first heard it.

Only you are smart enough to get something like this, Mr. Mu! :scream:

Oh, how I’d love to believe this was true:scream:

Seriously, that musical masterpiece was one big slapstick comedy - anyone will get it. I will find it and pm you a link, OK?

Hi guys, yesterday I discovered this hidden goldmine by accident, then immediately started to go page by page to gather the references (silly me missed the references thread and spent more than an hour doing this); anyways, I wanted to say that this is one helluva interactive drawing class.

Queensoul God bless you brains for popping out this great idea and thanks for making it so great and addictive.

I also want to thank Rebecca for putting up so much of herself on helping out everybody and making an enormous effort to make this community rock . I’ve been following your stuff since your first post and must say that none of your six thousands was in vain. And thanks for the image submitting tut, it helped ;)

So I’m a little late, I know, but I’ll try to keep up and start with some of the old references. Above is my first sketch done for Sketchathon.

Originally posted by Mr. Mu: rebecca - your charcoal drawings never cease to unhinge my jaws. With your digital pieces I sometimes get the desire to put on my glasses (which I can’t cause I have no glasses), though.
I think you somewhere said that Goro wanted to make you use hard edged brushes. From what your digital landscapes are looking like (they have the same dreamlike quality) this simply seems to be your style, but in one of your earlier sketches in this thread there was a stronger balance between soft and hard edges, somehow.

err, yea, but what do I know, actually?:scream:

Thanks, Mr. Mu! I think those last ones were pretty bad, though! :scream: With respect to my digital work, hehe, yeah, I do have a soft spot for the soft brushes ~ HA! crowd groans ~ no, but actually, I do prefer a slightly fuzzy look, but need to develop it so that it looks intentional, vs. like I need to have my prescription checked! :scream: As I have far more experience / training in traditional media painting / drawing~wise than digital, I’m here to learn / practice as much as anyone else (if not more!) so all comments / crits are well~received.

Hey, I really like your piece! Great style, and I particularly like the way that you have reddened the outer extremities / hands, that’s quite sophisticated! Want to tell us a bit about your background and training?

Cheers,

Yep, I can definitely see that LaurentiuBontea and AOAH (AndyOnAHill) have a lot in common stylistically! Speaking of AOAH, where are your posts, Mister?

#772

Heh, no shape is too sophisticated when viewed through ā€œlentile de sintezaā€ <- romanian expression [a synthesys lens (?)], too bad that it developing sooo hard :frowning: I’m 23, and just finished art school (this year), there’s nothing BIG in my background (yet), I’m a little aspirant to the game/movie industry.

#773
