I Like the GI in EI...

The GI seems to be pretty nifty and simple to set up. I believe one could set up a pretty detailed set and still get a reasonable render time. I’ve always said that renders over two hours long are not for me… I got a reasonable result off a very simple set with a 4min render and no artifacts. Much quicker than c4d.

Good to see you doing your tests and letting people know what you’ve found.

I really like the implimentation of the GI in EI. Brazil’s was very good - good results and simple to set up. Once EI got a good one put in it almost caused me to stop using Max completely. Simplicity of use in EI is outstanding.

For the most basic and simple set up - turn on shadows, activate GI with one bounce. Pretty much always looks good…minimal fiddling required.

ps…don’t get me started on the radiosity though:-) It’s fairly dismal.

“almost” == irradiance maps;

I was pretty surprised at how useable it all is- didn’t expect it. It means more involved projects are feasible without silly render times. I have something in the pipeline planned, to test it all…

It’s very useable and really not too much of a render hit. I have no complaints…looks like your project will be a fun one.

Here’s something new…at the bottom of the page which I just got this last week. Actually the 335 last Sat and the Historic LP Jr, yesterday. Both very nice!:slight_smile:

Can’t be all work! The Jr just rings like I’ve never heard a guitar do - bit of a one trick pony but that trick is just stellar.

I’ve taken a number of shots in various light that I’m hoping to emulate or get near with the GI. We’ll see…
I think the 335 is the ideal all round guitar- a tad pricy though in the UK… and the Junior is very much like the Gordon Smith in shape. Its a P90 I assume. I had a Gibson SG Special in the seventies with P90’s, mainly because Fender were going through a bad patch.
I’ve loads of work currently, so not much play…
