I finally got it ans had some minutes...

Hey all,

I just got my flamingo and friends… I have it sort of figured out but… I want to build some scenes… I have a set of gates that I would like to put a person next to or walking through. No desires to model one…

I see advetisments for bodies, hair and stuff, but I am not sure how that works? For example gc’s adam eve what would you do with them?

Thanks…

scenes are possible with flamingo but can be time consuming to make if you want something that looks sorta real, is it a studio setup you are looking for?

Adam and eve are free rhino models that you can use to see how a human would fit with your model.of course everone is different.
I think you would be lucky to find a free rhino human cause they are very difficult to make such an organic thing with rhino. I dont know of those ads but in most cases its for another program, where do you see them?

Not free. Never expected that. That’s why i am not sitting modeling a human…It is surely time consuming, for a begginner at it…

http://www.turbosquid.com/ not humans but same idea
http://poserpros.daz3d.com/ I understand that poser is a sw, but can you imort them?

I am sure that I will not get photo quality, but referance is more of what I am wanting them for… Anything for a referance, to save me some time. Attached is a render from rhino of a project I am working on. I have other renders but unfortunatlly I work on a different computer and do not have a copy at this time to post.

I have a little scene set up with some of the plug-in materials, looks ok, but would like some more details that I am not interested in modeling…
My purpose is to promote my designs, by adding referance…

Thanks

Many of the models you will find for rhino will not have the flamingo materials already applied which is why some people export to max, maya or another rendering program.
you should also consider whatever you decide to render with it takes a long time to set up shaders, material, settings and also to learn the program. It took me a good 6 months before i got anything good from flamingo and about 4 or 5 from vray.
i recommend photoshop for this of thing but thats me. there is a lot of work involved in building a scene and i cant say exactly what to do cause there are many ways to get a result. it may help if you show an example of a render or something so we know more of what is is you would like.
poser is much more about well posing and rendering humans…

Ok… Here are some first attempts… I understand wholheartedly that shading will ake a little more time.

Spincad I also realize I will never get “picture quality” without a more realistic render, and something like photoshop…

I have this plug-in and thought I could use it to make textures http://www.mecsoft.com/Mec/Gallery/rhinoart.html You can use pictures for example of gravel, sand, grass, pavment, and so on. It would allow your texture to have up to 1/2" of defanition… I am planning on trying this…

I am wanting to add to my products by having more modeled items.

The gates are going at our farm, the fountain I will machine from foam and them make a mold for casting cement into. I think the fountain adds to the gate render, and the cactus adds to the fountain. I also make benches so a person sitting on it would look pretty cool…

I also have to make directions for fountains assembly. I want to make fittings, the pipe, the pump, and whatever else will have to be installed. I plan to use penguin for this…

input and ideas please…
Gates are incomplete (a scene of longhorn cattle running cut from contrasting metals (copper, aluminum, and painted steel) will go into the middles)

Thanks for the input, in advance

hmm

have a look at using bump maps, soft shadows and flamingo sun, also check out the environment properties tab in render properties. you can add a sky this way.

#7

I found the sky and it kinda sucks? I think you would need to make a rolling ground plane for the sky to look good? The horizon is to flat…

Shadows, I am trying to do them… Lights are tuff to master though…

#8

maybe you could get the camera at eye level, use depth of field, then have a photo of where its meant to be as your background in the environment tab. Try and vary the texture of the ground so it doesnt look as flat.

just an idea…

#9

Can you give a brief discription of “depth of field”. I have seen that, but did not mess around with it… Sometimes I can screw up more than I can fix…;-(… Thanks

I’ll play around with the textures…

Thats a good tip. You should rough out your entire scene so the camera angle/composition ect can be perfected before you start to waste time modelling and aranging everything. Place the camera at eye level (1700mm Z-axis) and change the camera lens size. Go to _viewportproperties and change the lens there. The human eye sees at 35mm (if memory serves) and anything less than that starts to look funky. It will add more depth to the image. (there may be a different way in flamingo but I’ve never used it unfortunatly:()

You seem to have a problem tiling your textures. You want to avoind tiling unless its seamless. See how your paved driveway looks its repeating a tiny image over and over again. You need to correct that. I’m not sure how to map with flamingo so hopefully someone else will be able to help with that.

Can you map with flamingo??? Can I print screen from plan view… make a texture in photoshop and them map it back to the same location???

#11

Hey thanks for the camera tip…

Not sure about mapping yet…

BUT the drive is not pavement, it’s tile. We always use a cobble, brick, or some type of inprinted cement for our real drives. I thought I would get a better idea of what the gates will look like above the tiles…

Well keep posting up man… now I’ve found some extra time ill be alot more active on this forum!

There should be some tutorials on www.gregere.com on the shadows and lights.
Depth of field i suggested cause it would make the gates stand out more than the environment, and as you said you dont want to model lots. You can do it with photoshop or rhino, Sorry i cant explain it in rhino.

ed. tilite you can map with flamingo but it is not very simple. Many use uv mapper to preview the maps instead of constant import export.at least thats as far as i know

I checked those out, I think I need to spend some time with it… Play Play Play… It’ll take a little time, thanks for all the help. I’ll work on somethings and post them for critique…{;->
