Human Skeleton

#1

Regretfully it’s been quite awhile since I have had Messiah in my hands. =(

I’m currently trying to piece together a human skeleton. To accomplish this I thought it would be best to simply tear it apart in LightWave and piece it together in Messiah and simply move the pivot points around. So far so good… One exception… I took it for granted that I could get away with simply mirroring a copy of the objects from the right side to the left side… and it didn’t work as expected. I have approx. 144 bones anyone know of a easy work around???

I don’t know why that wouldn’t work … .

What happens when you click on the right side object and click “mirror” ?

Its something I use pretty much every day. . .

Did you select everything in the hierarchy you wanted to mirror?

The other thing that may have been an issue is that the mirrored hierarchy is parented to the parent of the original hierarchy. Change that top parent if that’s the issue.

(Just in case it’s one of the simple things)

I think perhaps you meant you loaded 1/2 the skeleton and tried to mirror that arm setup, for example.

While it will mirror the rigging, etc., it will not create a hand, for example, that is the mirror opposite.

Actually, if you have the model “together” in LW, this might have been a good use for Puppetmaster. That way there is no way for a solid bone on the skeleton model to be deformed in any rotations. I would probably bring in the whole model, and do a quick setup on the main limbs with messiah’s bones and see if that works first…much faster.
