HUD Heads up display per panel

#1

Hey there,
I am trying to code huds to act on a per panel basis… ie. to code say the current camera in the viewport. Maya does this with some “presets” within the “headsUpDisplay” command, so it seems that we are stuck with making the huds the same per viewport. Is that the case ?

What I am trying to do is have Sequence cam pop up in a panel as HUD when I call the command. At the moment the hud appears in all panels as I can’t see how to access HUD per panel…

Any pointers
Thanks a lot
Alan.

Yes that’s correct. There is no per-panel support for the HUD in Maya. The best you could do is fake it by hiding things so it only shows what you want for the active panel. Of course, if you’re in a multi-panel view mode, then that won’t work that well.

Thanks a mil, so I have two other options - the menubar and the bar underneath it… at least they are specific to the panels. I coded a menu control that reacts to activating the modelpanel, so a bit clunky but will do for the time being. It would be useful to have huds respect the current view, ie reading camera settings, showing view modes etc not to mention hud buttons.
