How to weld similar meshes into one mesh?

#1

Which Modelling Software is able to weld or glue 2 or more similar .obj meshes with common edges into a New Single Mesh?

My objective is to perform a Catcull-Clark Sub division on the New Single Mesh.
Without the weld or glue operation the Catcull-Clark Sub division will be performed on each
of the separate meshes, which is not what I’m after.

TIA!

Almost every 3D modeling program should be able to do this. I would download Blender, and try that one first.

I’m not familiar with Blender, but I’m willing to give it a try. However looking for this particular solution within Blender would require a lot time. If you use Blender, I would be grateful if you could you detail the steps required to make a single mesh?

In Max, there is the tool “target weld”. With that, you can weld the verts and merge two or more meshes into one. For example its used to weld the ear to the head when you model a character (or a hand to an arm, head to body).
Every software should be able to do that, as mentioned before. You just need to choose one. Blender is free, maya, max are probably the best softwares out there, and most likely you’ll find a tutorial about welding objects (in maya or max easier than a tutorial about the same thing in other softwares, though if you want to use blender or something else, you’ll find tutorials for those as well).
