It looks like your geo is suffering from a “double-transform”. The geometry is controlled by the skin cluster (joints) so if you scale the character from a node the has both the joints and geo as children then you are scaling the geo twice. Once by the parent node, and once by the joints. Try turning off “Inherits Transform” in the Attribute Editor for the geo or geo group. Do this for anything that is controlled by some form of a cluster. (such as a curve with clusters driving it)

^ This, or you could fix it by rearranging your scene hierarchy, so the group with elements that are to be scaled (like bones, controllers, IKs, constructionCurves) is a child of translate/rotate group and a sibling to mesh group, e.g.:

-translateRotate_grp
     |-scale_grp
     | |-bones_grp
     | |-IKs_grp
     | |-controlCurves_grp
     | |-constructionCurves_grp
     | (...)
     |-mesh_grp
     | |-(your mesh objects here)
     |-correctiveBlendShapes_grp
     (...)

This will prevent the double transformations without the need of turning off the transform inheritance.

EDIT: And you scale only the scale group.
