How to retopo on top of textured model

Hi;

I like to bitmap draw the topology of a model before retopoing it. Yet, when I’m in topo mode, the model in the bg always looks flat shaded and no matter what I do, I just can’t change it to textured so that I can see the topo I drew as a texture . How can I accomplish this?

In the topo tab select the settings tab and change the Background to “Same as active”. If your viewport display is set to texture or advanced OpenGL then you will see your texture map on the background mesh. I would also suggest pressing “O” in the viewport to bring up the view options and turn off “Show Vertices” in the Visibility tab if it is turned on.
This should give you what you want.
