how to render burning/sparkling fireworks effects on PFlow object

#1

I have been trying to produce different kinds of fireworks effects using PFlow. After days of looking at different historical books and spending some time playing with PFlow, I think I started to understand how to do the particle part, but I really don’t know how to continue from now on.

I mean I would like to render some realistic effect on the particle object, but I didn’t find anything better than rendering spheres with particle age material applied, which is far from a good looking small fireworks.

I think it’s better if I post some videos how my viewport and the rendering looks at the current state. Can you give some advice which are the best tricks to make it render more fireworks like? Or any idea how to make the particle system better? I was thinking about a very strong motion blur, or maybe even using Afterburn, but again, I don’t know which works really well.

have you looked into Render Effects in max?

My results so far with Afterburn. Do you know any way to make it more sparkle like and not so smoke like? Actually I pretty like this smoke look, but I think maybe it’s a good idea to instance the PFlow in place and make a 2nd one with 1/100th the particles, but with sharp rendering with glow and self illumination.

You could spawn some particles and it could be the sparkles.

i think the best way is post production

It is all probably in the size don’t you think?

#7

For that sparkle effect have you tried putting a gradient ramp in opacity??

#8

Make the system out of little sheres or facing planes with an opacity map to make the firework particles then try a gradient ramp in your self illumination slot, set the type to “Mapped” and put a particle age in the “Mapped” slot. and make the gradient heaps of black and white/ colours and the particles will sparkle! Dont forget to us Material Dynamic in your pflow.
Use a render effect glow or similar (or preferable do it in comp) to add the glow
