How to increase the Zoom-in distance?

#1

Good afternoon. I guess the title isn’t very accurate to the topic. My problem is as follows:
-I am doing a model (oh yes), and I need to go “inside its mouth” so I can fill and close the palate and close the gap where the lower jaw and the upper jaw meets inside the mouth. But when I try to zoom-in inside…
Here the sample.

As you see, whenever I try to zoom inside the mouth, Modeller starts to “eat” the view of the polys, and renders me unable to accurately select points or borders without stumble with the ones I don’t want to select (or because they virtually “disappear” from sight).

I am aware that somehow yesterday I managed to zoom-in into the mouth without this problem (that allowed me to close the inside of the lower jaw so I can fit a tongue and such), but I don’t know why when I open the object today, I zoom and then “zwoosh”, polys melts into the grayish background of infinity.

So… Any clues of how to increase the “zoom-in distance” or what I’m doing wrong that yesterday I managed to zoom-in without problems and today I can’t? Thanks in advance.

Meanwhile I will concentrate into modelling the “ears” and browns of the model. I have the need to finish this model before monday strikes.

i’ve had this happen to me. this is how i do it. select a polygon then shift+A. normally it’ll get it in very close proximity. or select all the polygons desired, hit “+” ( it’ll hide all but the selected poly’s) then hit shift+A. this usually works for me. hope it works for you.

Yes! Shift+A centers the view into my selection and now I can aproach it without problems  Many thanks!

PS: By the way, “+” is “Add Points” for me, in default mode :S I guess you changed that (I hide the unselected things by pressing “=” and then I press “” in order to get them back).

it’s not ‘+’ but ‘=’ that hides all but selected poly’s…
:)same key… different smell.
