How To Fade Between 2 Expressions

#1

Got a question.

I have a hand that has IK applied to the fingers.

I also have Inherit End applied to the fingers

I want to fade between the two expressions.

I have a keyfader applied right now with a slider set to switch on/off all motion channels.

When I slide it to one it turns off the motion channels as it should.

As a result, it overides the inherit end expressions.

Why do I want both? I have a character that will have a detatched hand at some point and it will run around like “thing” from the Adam’s Family.

Any ideas?

I also have to dynamically parent this hand to the wrist controls and have an overall mover null, but that’s another issue.

Why not just use the old dissolve(fade) trick? - have two hands, one attached to the body and another detached. Just dissolve one in and the other out and possibly vice versa.

I’m not sure if you’re going to have a bloody stump left behind, but that could be worked around as well.

That’s a good idea. I had thought about doing that but wondered if there were a cleaner solution.

I may have to just do that so I can move on.

FYI, it’s for a Humpty Dumpty character I’m working on. He’s been pieced back together via the miracle of duct tape.

I LOVE IT! Very nice characterization of Mr. Humpty Dumpty. Is this a messiah render or other? Any chance of seeing a wire frame and perhaps the rig? The texturing is very nicely done.:thumbsup: Two thumbs up!

Sure, it’ll take a couple of days to get back into the files. (Kids rob me of a lot of my spare time)

It was rendered in Lightwave.

Rigged in Messiah Animate. (in progress. I’m redoing all of the morphs for facial expressions and I’m not done with the texturing just yet on the arms and legs)

I have rebuilt him several times to get what I want. It’s still not perfect but at some point you just have to move on, you know?

That’s an awesome Humpty interpretation! Are those braces I see on his teeth? I really like the texture on the egg shell. I honestly laughed when I first saw him. Great job!

Yeah, they are braces. I may enlarge them a little to make them more noticeable. Haven’t decided.
