How to create rope on an empty subtool

#1

Hi,

I have a sculpted model and want to give it more details or decoration with a surrounding rope.

I found this brush/tutorial very useful for that.
http://www.badking.com.au/site/tutorial/learning-the-ropes-and-curve-insert-meshes/

I manage to draw the rope with insert mesh directly on my tool.

But what I want is to have the rope on a separate subtool (without heavy masking and extracting). Is there a way to create an empty subtool an draw the rope there?

Do I miss something here or do I think in a wrong way?

It´s easy!
Just draw your rope curve then use split at the subtool menu.
Click the “split masked points” button and then you got the curve in a seperat tool!

But be sure you placed it right first because you loose the curve adjustments possibilities when moved to a seperat subtool!
