How to create hi Res Psd passes in Zbrush?

#1

Hi guys!

I’m new in Zbrush, I’m trying to learn it but not everything is so straight forward as I thought.

Modelling is not a problem for me, it feels very natural to me and I’m exited about it.

My question for you is: how can I create hi res passes from zbrush? I followed some tutorials but none of them explains it at all. What I need is that once I render in Zbrush, save my passes as PSD files and opening them up in photoshop they are always 72dpi, no matter how much I play with the render settings. Is there a way to obtain a 300dpi PSD file out of the Zbrush passes?

Any help it’s greatly appreciated!

Thanks

not familar with zbrush rendering but what size do you need? is it for print?

basicly you don´t need to render anything at 300dpi. as long as you stay on the screen there are only pixel dimensions to care about and even when printing you only need to know how it all comes together.
simple example: a 10by10 cm image at 300 dpi consists of roughly 11811181 pixels. the same image at 72dpi is only about 283283 px.

so even after rendering a 11811181 px image ps will tell you it´s 72 dpi but related to the printsize of 1010 cm it´s basicly 300dpi.

Hi thanks for your answer!

Ok that’s a bit clearer

I don’t need it for any reason for now, I only want to understand how that works in order to be prepared in the future. So how do I change the image size then? In your post you used 10by10 cm image example, what if I wanted a 20by20cm image or more?
Sorry I might sound a bit thick but it’s really confusing me

Thanks in advance!

You can change your document size to whatever res you like. And then use the ‘Actualx1’ button and the ‘zoom’ button to adjust it to your liking for rendering.
