How to core an apple?

Hey there I’ve just completed the apple tutorial over at blender cookie and was wondering how one would go ahead and model it as if it had been cored (by an apple corer) and cut into 7 pieces, like so…

but so that if the pieces were all put together then the textures would still be seamless.
