How much you think will 5-10 min video renders?

Hey there! I am to make a mini animation for a school project, and i would like to know, considering my pc specs, how much time, not exactly, would a 5 to 10 the most minute movie would take to render?

Here are the specs:

RAM 1 GB
HD 250 GB
ATI Radeon 5570 HD
CPU Intel Pentium Dual E2180 2.00GHz

Thank you

PS: I am not looking for Pixar like quality. Simple yet adequate and enjoyable. :wavey:

You can do easily that yourself.

Just render one frame of your animation and multiply the total time by the total frames of your animation.

With that you can have an idea how long the render would take.

Yep that is definitely the best way help plan your time. Remember that it very much depends on how detailed your scene is (high or low poly count), and how much ray tracing is included. These could change from shot to shot, especially over the course of 5 to 10 minutes.

Good luck.

With only 1GB of RAM you’ll probably run out before a frame can render.

I’d recommend you do as the above poster mentioned, calculate one frame and then multiply to get your estimated total.

If the RAM usage is anywhere above 500MB~ you may have to break it down in to render passes to composite afterwards as I’m guessing you WILL hit a memory limit and Blender will crash.

Also render to a PNG or TGA sequence rather than a video file as if Blender does crash you won’t lose all of the time spent rendering, just the single frame Blender was rendering at the time.
