How Do I render like this? (Quick Question)

#1

Hi,
I was wondering how you render like this: http://67.15.36.49/team/Tutorials/bruttus/bruttus_p3.asp (third picture down). I think I read somewhere it’s openGL or something but I couldn’t find it. Is it just a normal render and grey material because if so what settings do I use (ie, materials, lighting)?

thanks

That is an ambient occlusion pass
Use something more advanced to get that type of output - Flamingo, Vray, brazil, mental ray etc :slight_smile:

#3

how do I do that? (in flamingo)

#4

Sorry… i don’t use flamingo! Search it’s help files for ambient occlusion…
It should support it, every serious rendering engine has this feature.

I couldn’t find anything on Ambient Occlusion Pass in help or in the menus. Does anyone else know how to do it using flamingo?

Hello,

I would suggest looking at this link :

There is a guy called Greger, he is an expert on Flamingo and Rhino and may be able to help you.

Cheers
Richard

This one --> http://67.15.36.49/team/Tutorials/bruttus/images/image13.jpg
is called specular render.

And this one -->http://67.15.36.49/team/Tutorials/bruttus/images/image15.jpg
Is called Clay Render.
Specular pass render… Hmm I don’t know if Flamingo has that, if it doesn’t have specular slider/parameter then it isn’t going to render specular pass.

I doubt Clay Render would work with flamingo because it require GI to work, I don’t think flamingo has GI (I may be wrong). They tend to work well with Photorealstic render engine such as VRay, Brazil, Maxwell, FinalRender and etc… It may as well work with Polymodeling Software default render such as 3ds Max, Maya, and etc (Only if you wish to export rhino)

But I may suggest you to t ry Indigo render which is free… (Unfortunately lack of tutorial) and see if you can try to achieve on what you re looking for.
Good Luck.

Flamingo doesn’t have abient occlusion. The Brazil WIP, which is open to Rhino owners, does.
