Hi, i recently got a job in a very small game comepany. My job is to model a terrain that looks something similar to this:


i tried blending dirt and grass textures in photoshop and applied it on poly plane, but the terrain looks very flat. art director dont even like that. i dont even have a clue how to make those trees :(. is there any way to produce good quality terrain for strategy games? i done a lot of mid poly modelling in maya and hardsurface in zbrush. the game engine that we using is flare3d. and the game is for facebook.
Any suggestions are greatly appriciated!

Try a displacement map on a higher tesseleated poly, add sume bumps and bake all that into a normal map.
i don`t even have a clue how to make those trees
I’d use mapped planes aligned to camera.
Thanks for replying, but how would you primarily make a tree to later align it to camera. and how to generate displacement and normal map out of a plane image?
